We are pleased to announce that MUDr. Ondřej Strýček, Ph.D.—physician at the Brno Epilepsy Center, Assistant Professor at the First Department of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University and FNUSA, and researcher at CEITEC Masaryk University—has been nominated for the prestigious Epilepsia Open Prize 2025 in the Clinical category.
His article, titled “Metabolic connectivity as a predictor of surgical outcome in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy,” was published in Epilepsia Open in 2024 and explores brain metabolic connectivity in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. The study offers new insights into seizure propagation mechanisms and predictors of surgical success in this type of epilepsy.
Since 2018, the Epilepsia Open Prize has recognized outstanding contributions by early-career researchers under the age of 45 whose work significantly advances the field of epileptology. Dr. Strýček’s nomination affirms his position as one of the most promising young researchers in the field.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Strýček and his collaborators on this well-deserved recognition!
