Peer support is a unique form of assistance that enables people with similar experiences to support one another by sharing knowledge and insights. In the context of epilepsy, this means that individuals who know firsthand what it’s like to live with the condition offer support to others—whether they are patients themselves or their loved ones.
Sharing personal experiences, offering emotional support, or giving practical advice on managing seizures and handling everyday life and work—these are all ways peer conversations can help.
Peer Support by Společnost E
In the Czech Republic, peer support for people with epilepsy is coordinated by Společnost E through their Peer Support Program. They offer several ways to connect:
For those who prefer individual meetings, Společnost E coordinates a group of trained peer consultants. Consultations can take place in person, by phone, or online.
For adults who would prefer to talk with several people at once, virtual group sessions are available. These meetings are facilitated by a psychologist.
You can also meet other people with epilepsy once a month in Brno, at the club meeting on Kounicova 1.
Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
If you’re interested in joining, you can contact the club’s volunteer coordinator:
